The greatest thing about White Heat is James Cagney’s portrayal of Cody Jarrett, a psychopathic criminal. Cody’s relationship with his mother and his devotion to her is so intriguing. Everything about this film is right on. I think it’s very quotable. Cagney’s way of saying “copper” is so damn cool. Even Edmond O’Brien was fantastic in this. There are at least three scenes that are very memorable. You’ll discover them once you watch it. One being the climatic ending which is perhaps one the best I’ve ever seen. Nothing comes close to it, not even Brian De Palma’s Scarface ending. This is one of my favorite gangster films and I really recommend it. -filmcigarettes
